Call to Action Day

Sadly I was not able to participate in call to action day as I was too late in signing up. I have however made efforts to get even more involved with my CP and the EHP program. Currently, I am trying to become part of their executive board as I've seen there is more of a need for community members direct participation. In volunteering three times a week, I have been fulfilled in ways that I didn't know were possible. I've people who are in situations that are worse that one could ever imagine, all of them happy, never complaining about their struggles or their current obstacles. The experience has humbled me, and given me a purpose that i knew i always had but never acted on. In writing a thesis on my community as well as volunteering in it, I've grown a love for its history and its progress.

In doing this work the hallmarks that I reflected on the most were all of them. Each day I volunteer I learn more about myself and what I am actually capable of. In working with those who are living in poverty you must honor the dignity and sacredness of each person, and you must be educated about the work that you are going in to do so that you can complete your tasks to the best of your ability.
Not every family and their situation is the same so you must embrace diversity, in doing so you're creating a functioning, and healthy community among those that I work with and serve with.
