The Silverado memory care center offers home care, hospice care and memory care communities. One conflict that could arise from this is the fact that the center may not be affordable to everyone. The funding received for the healthcare services provided is either taxpayer funded or privately funded which is usually provided through an employer.  Some employers do not offer benefits that are accommodating to everyone which may cause a conflict amongst the residents of the city because the Silverado care center is adjacent to other community centers that offer the same services but in a package that’s not as appealing due to funding.  This ties into another issue that relates to the state, which is some centers failing to meet the quality of care requirements. This causes concerns about what Medicare is actually paying for, private funding gives facilities the opportunity to pay their workers and offer flexible hours more which can affect the quality of care. the ACA eliminated many but not all of these issues.

The hospital and nursing home industry are in many cases the key contributors in elections, donating 35 million to the federal candidates and political parties of the 2012 presidential election. After the Affordable Health Care Act, president 

Obama and democrats overall were the sole cause for a shift in the health care industry’s political preference. In the past three elections democrats have received more contributions from a wide variety of health care institutions than republicans since the late 90's. Although I haven’t found any solid information confirming that Silverado memory care contributes, I believe that they do, it seems to me that any one benefiting from this law should favor the democratic party even if they don't favor president Obama and Silverado is no different, although they are a private entity, they still receive funding from the government for their patients.

Silverado is a memory care community that offers a wide variety of services to citizens who are living with illnesses like Alzheimer’s and dementia as well as those who are elderly. Funding for assisted living is usually provided by the state government of California which only covers a percentage of costs for a certain amount of time. Those who would like to file for Medicaid have to meet certain requirements in order to be eligible. As a result many families have to pay out of pocket or set up payments via insurance, social security, retirement to supplement where the Medicare falls short. In terms of citizen participation, the various private forms of payment allow those receiving the care to be more selective and hands on. Citizens are also able to effect the outcome of the type of care they receive by voting, staying informed on the changes that the government makes in terms of cost and forms of payment and also by speaking out and making an effort to change the things they don’t like with the center. Silverado is also a private memory center which means that they have even more outside funding and as a result have no choice but to offer the best care to their clients.

Silverado Care

      A nursing home or assisted living facility is a place that provides accommodations as well as health care for elderly people. For a long time there has been a stigma that surrounded assisted living facilities. In 1986, a study was conduced on nursing homes, the study found that majority of the residents placed in nursing homes were being abused and neglected. The nursing home reform act was put in place shortly after to ensure that residents receive quality care to ensure their well being. nursing homes receive funding such as medicare or medicaid as long as they are certified and in compliance with the act.
